No Offence

Wind split the post and the sign fell down,
where For Sale had turned to Sold.
That was months ago, but the bungalow
appears as it did of old.
Still, through a textured window pane
we see a shaving-glass;
one side plain, one magnifies
it saw its owner's last.
No sight nor sound of anyone
to clear the place or care,
no nosy neighbours see the panels
newly fitted there.
So if and when new folk move in,
the fence won't be a slight,
and meanwhile we may pile our logs
in shelter out of sight.

After a heavy mist that was slow to clear it's been a beautiful day. Two men came and fitted this fence and made a lovely job of it. After they'd gone, we went for our first walk down The Drift, a green lane nearby, and edged around fields to return home full circle through the village. It's a walk we've often done before, but this is the first time this year, and the first time for Mr PP's new hip.

The hedgerows were covered in may blossom and the grass verges yellow and blue with cowslips and speedwell. Too warm for coats, though I fear that will all change again tomorrow, with a return of rain and cooler temperatures. So glad we had that lovely walk today. My Extra shows moments from our walk.
