How I think of May

Bright, fresh green, cow parsley, bluebells and buttercups. Seen through a car window in the rain.

We were returning from Leicester General Hospital where I had been to see the surgeon after not quite a year. He's very pleased with progress and pointed out on the X-ray how bone has grown round the prosthesis. The original break in the thigh will never entirely heal.

The excellent news is that theoretically, I can walk without crutches and sticks although we both had to acknowledge that I need to build confidence. And that's going to take some time. He will see me again next year, all being well.

Basil stayed with Helen while we were away and did get a walk but he's been moody and despondent all afternoon.

Ham, eggs and chips at Sainsbury's caff for lunch.
