twinned with trumpton

The assault on the remain Munros continues.

Up at 7; set the boys on the road for school and Nat 5 Maths before I scooted along the road to pick up a van and by 0915 me and the hound were on the road north.

Bar a quick stop off at Bruar to lift a leg, and a not so quick trek behind camper vans, caravans, heavy plant etc it was 1330 by the time we pitched up at the back of Morvich. 15 minutes later we were out in sweltering heat and into the trail that leads to Bheinn Fhada. Fields and wooded river banks eventually gave way to more open ground and a decent stalker's path carries you nicely up towards the bealcah between the day's quarry and A Ghlas-bheinn before bearing south into a huge corrie which ends with a series of switchbacks and you pop out onto the shoulder of what is a pretty impressive lump of a hill. The day is far from done as there's anothe couple of km of fairly steady climbing across a large plateau before the summit is finally nailed. 3 hours 10 mins from the car.

Did I dare try and include A Ghlas-beinn in the day...? I wasn't feeling in prime condition; very heavy legged and dull aching hips. The heat? The lingering cold that everyone has had this late winter? We headed back and rather than take the direct line for AGB, I knew deep down I didn't have the legs for it and retraced my steps; it'll be no disaster to have to come back here again to nab it.

I was back at the van for 2015; probably justified in my decision to bypass AGB as I reckon I'd have had another hour to make quite a significant ascent and then route find my way off in failing light.

Having fed Loki, I set about the 4 hours home - no mean feat!

I got in, managed a couple of jacket potatoes and beans before collapsing into bed around 0100.

247 / 282; 35 more left.

Extra is the view out west as we headed back towards Invergarry
