Mums and babies

There are a lot of mums and babies around and about just now amongst the sheep and cattle. While I was in the garden I realised the cows were right up by the footpath wall. The one nearest in the photo suddenly leaned over and seemed like it was having a chat with me. Unfortunately I'd left my camera inside. By the time I'd popped in to fetch it the cow had decided munching on the grass was more interesting. I got a quick shot of them before they all wandered back off to the other side of the field. They were very vocal this morning.
The lambing seems to have been a bit later than normal and there are still some tiny lambs in the field with their mums, which is always lovely to just stand and watch.
I was busy in the sewing room and made a practice run at a pair of trousers using an old duvet cover. I always have trouble making a trouser pattern fit properly so I thought I'd try using a shorts pattern that always fits well and just making them longer. I'm quite pleased with the result just a few tweaks needed. I want to buy fabric with my recent voucher I won but want to be sure of what pattern I want it for. I think I've probably found it.
I didn't venture outside much as it was a really chilly wind and you would need to keep moving. I tried taking Reg round the village but we hardly got out of the driveway before he refused to go further! He spent most of the day in the garden as Barry was down in the veg plot for most of it. Reg obviously thought that was enough outside for one day!
This evening I did the front bands on the cardi and started sewing up. I've done the decreasing as per the pattern for the fronts but I don't like how the stitches look, really untidy and messy so I may be taking them apart and doing them again. A bit disappointing but if I don't wear it there was no point in making it! I need to have a second look in daylight.
Hope everyone is enjoying a good Bank Holiday weekend.
