A Walk on the Wild Side

I had another fairly early start this morning , catching a lovely high tide at 8am. It was a bouncy swim to the buoy and back but so enjoyable in the presence 5other Selkies.
I got a lift home so that after a shower I was eating breakfast at 8:30am. What a change in fortune from the palaver I have getting home from Porty.

Later, on my way ostensibly to have a coffee at Julia’s and buy miIk, I  remembered to post the boys’ birthday cards for their birthdays next Sunday. You never know if the PO will hold it against you for only putting on second class stamps and so delay delivery.
I bought the milk but bypassed the coffee in favour of a walk round the back of the town. I had the road all to myself, not even a pram passed me . There was no wind and it was preternaturally quiet and peaceful. There were wide views to be had east over Hamnavoe and the Holms and although it wasn’t sunny it was bright with clear visibility.

Having spent half the walk climbing, it was inevitable that I had to descend and that was when my knees decided to let me know they were out of training. I hirpled home realising for the first time that walking down a slope is harder than going up.

I paid a short visit to Blipper EllyJay in the afternoon but she is still recovering from her Covid jab so I didn’t stay long. Hopefully I’ll see her for longer the next time I’m up in Stromness.

Today’s blip is of a very  scenic garden I pass every morning on my way to swim. One of the houses that it belongs to featured a few years ago in Scotland’s Home of the Year.
My extra blip has featured in my entries every single year I’ve been here. It would be rude not to include this year too!
