Boultham Park

Last night we decided to go out to the river bank to see if we could see the Aurora Borealis. No such luck! It was quite hazy which would impair visibility, and there's quite a bit of light pollution. Though the lights didn't stop people seeing them the previous night, so maybe there was less activity this time.

As disappointed as I am at not seeing them, I can't help thinking it would be weird if I could. Even weirder that people in America and New Zealand have seen them. A long way from the Aurora zone in the Norwegian Arctic... Why? I Googled it, and learnt that it is because they're caused by  charged particles colliding with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere around the magnetic poles. When activity is strong, this expands to cover a greater area. But nowhere does it say why this activity is suddenly stronger... Is it a freak one-off event, a consequence of climate change, or what?

I have added an extra of a shot I did take last night despite not seeing the Lights! The other extra is another Boultham Park scene.

Today we had a lie-in and took it easy before heading out. I made Brian take me for a quick walk around Boultham Park since he's going uphill to take shots of the Lincoln cycling grand prix and I didn't fancy that.

Then I sat in the car whilst he tried to get further info about what is going to happen regarding our huge sofa bed cock-up. He got nowhere! I'd jokingly told him he should power-dress rather than rock up in shorts and a cartoon monkey T-shirt, then they'd take him more seriously! He said one of the staff actually complimented him on the shirt...

After that we popped in to Morrison's on the way home to pick up a couple of things for lunch.
