The Princess and the Dog

Patched Up

Dear O'H dear, Lovely Tea Jenny & The Mini Princesses,

The Duke came to stay last minute as he decided to break the journey on the way home from an interview. He was on great form as he felt it had gone quite well and we had a lovely evening.

Just after I went to bed, I heard The Duke head upstairs followed by a bit of a thud from the bedroom next door and he called through.

“Princess…I’ve made a bit of a mess.”

So I jumped out of bed thinking he’d probably just spilt a glass of water.

“I’m in here” he called from the bathroom.

Which looked like an abattoir.

“Sorry about the mess,” he said whilst covering his eye with one hand, blood running down his arm and smeared across his whole face.

A quick assessment of the situation, led me to the conclusion that the mess was not the biggest priority. The more pressing issue was the source of the mess, The Duke’s face.

It turned out to be two small cuts (above and below his eye) which thankfully stopped bleeding quickly. He had tripped on the base of the desk chair whist holding a glass of water and his face hit the rim of the glass (which thankfully didn’t break) as he fell.

During all of this, The Prince was taking Murphy for a last walk round the block. When he came back, I was using my Blue Peter first aid skills to apply a dressing.

“Your brother glassed himself,” I explained.

I may also have joked that he’d end up with a Darwin Award!

I have discounted a career change to nursing. The general public can breathe a sigh of relief.
