The Kiltwalk Blipfoto Scribbler Unmasked

For those of you who tune it to our KiltWalk Blipfoto page then we can finally unmask "The Kiltwalk Blipfoto Scribbler".

I know, I know . . . you were hoping for someone better looking, someone younger, someone slimmer, so sorry to disappoint. I prefer to think I have the 'lived in' look.

Its been a rather eventful holiday so far and its only Wednesday!!

So as they say in the movie, "let's start at the very beginning, its a very good place to start".

We had been given precise instructions by Dougie on how to get to his apartment. So we did what you do i.e. jump in the taxi and say in your best Spanish accent "eh can you take us here mate" while pointing to the printed email, assuming he can read english.

Without any discussion, the driver fired up the engine, hit the highway and we didn't even blink when he drove past junction 29 (Dougie's email said make sure he takes junction 29) to come off at the next one, but hey, he's the taxi driver and they know, don't they?

Much to our relief 5 mins later he deposited us at Club La Costa, where we dutifully took Dougie's advice and got a porter to take us to apartment B503, where we proceeded to batter the door, with increasing annoyance that our 'mate' wasn't even in to greet us.

So there nothing for it but to 'phone Dougie' who told us we weren't knocking his door. What followed next was classic panto as we shouted down the phone "oh aye we are" and he roared back "oh no you're not". It was after a good three or four minutes of this that Dougie asked "you are at Club La Costa MONTERAY aren't you and not Club La Costa Paradise Club" and of course you probably guessed we weren't at the right place three paragraphs ago.

It was, retrospectively, a hilarious start to our holiday, and a tale that will be told often in years to come.

Last night was another cracker when the 'guys' fancied taking in the St. Mirren v Hearts Scottish Cup replay. None of us are 'buddies' or 'jam tarts', but we're guys and we were doing what guys do . . . Watch fitba, any fitba. So we proceeded to visit around eight pubs enquiring if any were showing the "scottish fitba" only to be met with derisory scowls of disapproval by all the bar staff and accusations 'bawbaggedness' from us, once we were at least twenty feet away of course.

So fast forward to today when my mate asks "does anyone know what the score was last night?" and before anyone could spell "google" I was able to inform everyone that the game, was in fact 'on tonight' so spot the real bawbags.

Its been hard work all this partying and its safe to say my liver definitely knows I'm not 19, even if I don't, as there have been a few too many 04:00 finishes but its been great having laughs with friends and some of the highlights include getting the entire Mexican restaurant singing 500 miles, which was no mean feat as we had to source the sheet music for the band first.

However the late nights haven't stopped The KiltWalk activity as our charity tuesday tweets went out yesterday and my KiltWalk fundraising efforts continue as I've managed to raise £76 so far.

So time to get ready and do it all again and now that I've been unmasked then if you see me on KiltWalk day, come up and say hello.
